Why New Year's Resolutions Are Weight Loss Illusions

For millions of Americans who are suffering from “New Year’s Resolution Syndrome” now can find their ultimate cure from Morris County, NJ personal trainer and fitness expert Carey Yang. “New Year’s Resolutions syndrome is a epidemic disease in different context in that people are making the same-old-but-never-worked New Year’s resolutions over and over.  It’s insane to expect different and better results by doing the same old,” Yang says.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
“New Year’s resolutions for weight loss are illusions or illusive goal-setting tool that have failed people many times over,” Yang says. “People vow to make changes on New Year’s day then go on for a few days or weeks. Most will quit in a month. By the end of January, one-third of people quit. Only half people still stay on their New Year’s resolutions after 6 months.”
Yang adds, the problem is that people make resolutions with right intentions but wrong attitudes. It comes from the place of fear and not having or lack of true passion and commitment.
The single biggest key to improving both your performance and your results seems to go ignored by almost everybody. If you want to be at the top of your game you absolutely must review, analyze, and learn from what has already happened.
Here are 7 steps to follow to ensure your New Year’s resolutions stick.
Step 1. Identify your three greatest accomplishments
Even if this year was a challenging year for you, odds are if you look close enough there’s something somewhere to be proud of.
Step 2. Analyze what you learned from each accomplishment
Now that you have identified your three greatest accomplishments, go back to each one. This time though identify exactly what you learned or were reminded of by each of them.
Step 3. Identify your biggest disappointments
Practically every company and individual resists analyzing their mistakes. That’s a shame because this is where the best learning comes from.
Step 4. Analyze what you learned from each failure or disappointment
No matter how great everything in life is going – we all make mistakes. The trick here is to really analyze them, what preceded them, what could you have done differently, and how can you prevent them in the future.
Step 5. Identify how you limited yourself last year and how can you stop
Were there certain actions you took or didn’t take that came back to haunt you? In order to make sure you don’t limit yourself again – you need to bring these self-defeating actions to the surface, confront them, and most importantly determine what you must do differently to make sure you don’t make the same mistakes all over again.
Step 6. Pragmatically review the information you have gathered
The goal of this exercise is not simply to know yourself and your business better but to actually use the information to make certain next year far surpasses this year.
What are the big takeaways from answering each question? What do you know about yourself or your business that you didn’t realize or weren’t thinking about?
Obviously, having this list isn’t going to do it all, you still need to take this new knowledge and use it.
Fortunately, that’s what the last question is centered around. And here it is…
Step 7: Use this Information to amaze yourself next year
The purpose here is to build in to your schedule, your interactions, your management style or whatever else you’ve surfaced in the previous questions and build yourself a new better approach.
The final step is to incorporate it into a plan for the next year. Wish you the best luck!

Christmas Eve Holiday Workout and Diet Solutions

Christmas Eve Holiday Workout and Diet Solutions

0
Year after year, losing weight and getting healthy rank the Top 3 New Year’s Resolutions for most people “You can witness this from the crazy crowd in the gym for the first two weeks after the New Year. People all over the world are searching for tips and advice in losing weight, building muscles, eating right, finding workout routines, and achieving six pack abs when the New Year Eve’s ball drops,” says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness coach.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
Health and fitness is the case where haste makes waste, as the old saying goes. Many people start the new year with good momentum, then lose steam by the end of January. By February, most people already quit or visit the gym much less often.
On the eve of Christmas, Yang offers a quick total-body workout and diet solutions. Anyone can walk into holiday party with confidence. Do the following combo exercises as a circuit workout. Do 10 to 12 reps each. Rest for two minutes and repeat for a total of 3 to 5 circuits (sets).
1. Deadlift to Biceps Curl
2. Squat to Shoulder Press
3. Hanging Leg Raise to Abs Curl
4. Bodyweight Dips to Leg curl
About diet, food is your friend, not your foe. Make a good friend with food. It turns out that stress eating, emotional eating, overeating, and mindless eating cause more weight gain. The food area in which I want to improve is vegetables. My goal is to eat at least two servings of dark green or leafy vegetables per day, such as broccoli, spinach, kale, Romaine lettuce, bok choy, etc.
Plan to list my weekly grocery shopping list with at least three dark or leafy vegetables. I will buy enough for the week’s portion. Cook twice a week. Freeze the rest. When the meal time comes, I will simply reheat them.
Another important component in health and fitness is to watch your environment. When you want to lose weight and stay fit and healthy, you need to watch out who you’re associated with. You are the product of five of your closest friends. Obesity is epidemic and contagious. Some people call it “sympathetic weight gain” with your friends. Stay close to your fit and healthy friends, but don’t break up with your overweight friends just yet.

Midsection Bulging Damage Control for Middle-Aged Women

Losing belly fat and toning up abs muscles not a struggle anymore for middle-aged women. Denville NJ personal trainers Carey Yang shares top strategies to tone up midsection for middle-aged women.

Flat Abs
According to a study just published in Journal of the American Medical Association, middle-aged American women need to exercise in a moderate intensity an hour a day, every single day, just to avoid weight gain.
The study followed 34,079 women over 13 years. In that time, they gained an average of about 6 pounds each. Don’t let the word “average” fool you into thinking that a handful of really heavy women skewed the average. Some 87 percent of the women gained weight.
An hour a day, every single day?! Is this even a possible goal to set and reach?
“The answer is Yes,” says Carey Yang, owner and master trainer of Denville, NJ-based Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC. “But take one baby step at a time before you get frustrated, burnt out and quit.”
Yang shares his strategies with middle-aged women how to avoid weight gain. It goes beyond just an hour of moderate exercise a day.
1.Know where you are. You got to know your numbers – weigh, body mass index (BMI), body fat, and waist measurement. User-friendly calculators can be found www.cdc.gov/healthy weight/assessing. If you are not sure, find a fitness trainer in the gym and hire one to your home for consultation.
2.Exercise right and amp up intensity. The study refers to an hour of moderate exercise. It doesn’t mean you have to gym every day or run on treadmill or bike. Other activites such as walking,  hiking, golfing all help 300 to 400 calories. If you increase the activity level and intensity, you can even burn more calories by running, aerobics or swimming.
3.Watch your calories. The truth is that you can’t outtrain a bad diet. You can train all day, every day, but eat all night and more than you can burn off, you will gain weight.
4.Portion control. Most people are overweight for one simple reason: They eat too much. You have to learn what a serving size is. It varies depending on the type of food, form and measuring unit. You’ll find calorie counting isn’t that hard. It may be tough at first, but in time you’ll find that you don’t have to be stuffed to be satisfied.
Learn how to use your bodyweight to exercise more, lose more fat in less time.

Dieting, Exercise and Survival During and After Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy has caused historical damages in New York City and New Jersey areas. Morris County NJ personal trainer Carey Yang shares his diet and exercise tips and how he survives 7 days (and still counting) without electricity and heat.

Hurricane Sandy Satellite Image

Hurricane Sandy made a historical impact on the East Coast this week. New York City and New Jersey are the hardest hit areas with more than $50 billion damages.

Millions of people are left in the dark and cold without electricity and heat. Gasoline to run cars and power generators has become such a demand and in big shortage. The famous 70-mile long Jersey Shore was washed off by surging storm and high tide. Sand has pushed inland a mile from the coastline damaging bridges and washing away houses.

Lower Manhattan, Staten Island and Long Island regions of New York are also hit hard with severe flooding and damages. New York City Marathon has to be cancelled for the first time after frustrated public outcry over long and delayed rescue effort.

"Although Hurricane Sandy warning started a few days earlier and many people have been preparing for it, the extent and size is simply beyond 100 years of historical storm," says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness expert  in Morris County, New Jersey.

Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC -- a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.

Yang says, I still have no electricity or heat at home 7 days after Sandy and don't know the power will be back. Several downed trees need to saw off. Downed wires need repair. The coordination between tree service companies, township public workers and utility workers seems to be a challenge.

"I don't have power generator. Luckily I have a gas grill with a burner and a full tank of propane to warm up water for tea and coffee, cook soup and simple meals," Yang says. "Still, it's temporary, not meant to last for more than two weeks."

Yang provides a list of foods and diet for emergency:

● Preserved meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, and soups. They are often full of additives and salts. On the other hand, canned food is easy to get and store for at least two years.
● Protein/fruit/granola bars. Look for the ones without any HFCS or unpronounceable ingredients.
● Dry cereal or granola.
● Dried fruits, grains and nuts. If you can, choose organic and buy in bulk to save money.
● Crackers: Buy high-quality, high-fiber ones.
● Juice, plus fluids with electrolytes.
● Water: This is key. “Water is a not-optional item. If you don’t have it, you die.

Lastly, here’s a list of non-food stuff to have on hand:
● Soap, or alcohol-based (60-95%) hand wash.
● Any prescription meds your family needs, plus a basic first-aid kit that includes a thermometer, fever meds such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, and anti-diarrheal meds.
● Flashlights: If your flashlights use rechargeable batteries, good for you, but if the power goes out you wont be able to plug in the recharger. Consider a hand-crank flashlight or solar-powered ones and/or emergency candles.
● Portable radio. Here’s one that operates on solar, hand-crank or battery power and has a built-in cell phone charger and flashlight.
● Manual can opener.
● Garbage bags: Use them for trash, make-shift sleeping bags.
● Tissues, toilet paper, diapers (if water is in short supply, you won’t be washing cloth diapers, so go for disposable eco diapers) and feminine hygiene supplies.

Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors Benefit from Strength Training and Cardio Exercises with Morris County NJ Fitness Trainer

Breast cancer patients and survivors can recover from treatments faster and improve their health by proper strength training and supervised exercises with certified personal trainer and fitness expert Carey Yang in Morris County, New Jersey.
Diagnosed and treated with breast cancer is a devastating experience. Breast cancer patients and survivors may be feeling down and out. “By proper strength training and supervised exercise with a certified personal trainer, cancer patients can recover faster can cancer survivors can improve their health,” says Carey Yang, Morris County NJ #1 in-home personal trainer.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
Current research provides promising evidence that exercise training is a well-tolerated and safe intervention that can mitigate several common treatment-related side effects, including fatigue, deconditioning, nausea, anxiety, and loss of muscle strength.
Over the past decade, exercise has emerged as an integral aspect of cancer survivorship and preventing or treating the late effects of therapy. Similar to during therapy, clinical trials in this setting have provided strong evidence that exercise is a well-tolerated and safe intervention associated with significant improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness, fatigue, and quality of life in cancer survivors.
Several landmark observational studies have provided the first evidence that regular exercise (such as brisk walking for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week) is associated with 15 percent to 61 percent reductions in the risk of mortality following a diagnosis of early-stage breast or colorectal cancer, relative to survivors who were inactive.
It is becoming increasingly evident that sedentary behavior and decreased exercise levels following a cancer diagnosis can increase treatment-related toxicities, whereas engaging in regular exercise can significantly reduce the incidence and extent of such toxicities.
The field of exercise oncology is rapidly evolving with many unanswered questions. The current evidence base provides a clear indication that exercise is an additional powerful weapon in the fight against, and recovery from, cancer.

Top 10 Best Healthy Foods to Keep You Fit and Trim

Avocados
The cholesterol-lowering monounsaturated fat in these green health bombs can help keep your body strong and pain free. University of Buffalo researchers found that competitive women runners who ate less than 20 percent fat were more likely to suffer injuries than those who consumed at least 31 percent. Peter J. Horvath, Ph.D., a professor at the university, speculates that the problem is linked to extreme low-fat diets, which weaken muscles and joints. "A few slices of avocado a day are a great way to boost fat for women who are fat shy," says Leslie Bonci, R.D., director of sports nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Bananas
Thanks to bananas' high potassium content, peeling one is a speedy solution to that stitch in your side. While a lack of sodium is the main culprit behind muscle cramps, studies show potassium plays a supporting role: You need it to replace sweat losses and help with fluid absorption. Bananas are also packed with energizing carbohydrates. One medium-size fruit has 400 milligrams of potassium and as many carbs (29 grams) as two slices of whole-wheat bread.
Berries
USDA researchers recently placed fresh berries on their list of the 20 foods richest in antioxidants. Just a handful of blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries is an excellent source of these potent nutrients, which protect muscles from free radical damage that might be caused by exercise. Shop for berries by the shade of their skin: The deeper the color, the healthier the fruit.
Carrots
Close your eyes and they almost taste like crunchy candy. Carrots pack complex carbs that provide energy to muscles and potassium to control blood pressure and muscle contractions, says Leslie Bo.
Whole Grain Cereal
Looking for something to nosh before you hit the gym? Raid your cereal stash. The healthiest brands contain endurance-boosting complex carbs and muscle-building protein. Sixty minutes before a workout, fuel up with a 200-calorie snack: ¾ cup of whole-grain cereal with 4 ounces of fat-free milk. "When you eat something before exercising, you have more energy, so you can work out harder and perhaps longer. And you'll be less likely to overeat afterward," says Leslie Bonci, R.D.
Chicken Thighs
Skimp on iron and zinc and your energy will flag. Cooking up some juicy chicken thighs or turkey drumsticks is the best way to get more of both. "Dark-meat poultry is significantly lower in fat than red meat yet has all the iron, zinc, and B vitamins that women need in their diets," says Seattle sports nutritionist Susan Kleiner, Ph.D., author of Power Eating.
Hummus
Complex carbohydrates, protein, and unsaturated fats—all the right elements to fuel activity—meet in one healthy little 70-calorie, 3-tablespoon package. Plus, hummus is often made with olive oil, which contains oleic acid—a fat that helps cripple the gene responsible for 20 to 30 percent of breast cancers, according to Northwestern University researchers.
Eggs
Don't skip the yolk. One egg a day supplies 215 milligrams of cholesterol—not enough to push you over the 300-milligram daily cholesterol limit recommended by the American Heart Association. Plus, the yolk is a good source of iron, and it's loaded with lecithin, critical for brain health, says nutritionist Susan Kleiner, Ph.D. What does brain power have to do with exercise? Try doing a sun salutation without it.
Chocolate Milk
There's way more to milk than just calcium. In fact, it's a damn near perfect food, giving you a lot of valuable energy while keeping your calorie count low, says nutritionist Susan Kleiner, Ph.D. The chocolate kind is loaded with calcium, vitamins, and minerals just like the plain stuff, but new studies confirm that milk with a touch of cocoa is as powerful as commercial recovery drinks at replenishing and repairing muscles.
Salmon
Great for heart health, but here's an added twist: New studies are suggesting that monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fats might help lessen abdominal fat. It's too soon to understand the link, but "this could be particularly good for women working to tone their core," says nutritionist Susan Kleiner, Ph.D.

Top 3 Myths about Getting Ripped 6 Pack Abs Debunked by NJ Celebrity Personal Trainer and Fitness Expert

Carey Yang, Certified Personal Trainer
Fitness Expert & Abs Specialist

The quest to getting a set of ripped 6 pack abs has been a world craze as far and as long as I can remember. The media is so obsessed about the flat stomach or ripped abs image. We're brain-washed that we gotta have to them be good, fit, and desired person.

Over the years, many "myths" or half-baked truths have been rumoring around. Most people are confused by different opinions from different experts. The lightening speed of internet and social media makes it even worse.

Each of the following myths have some merit. They become a myth when an unethical fitness professional or expert takes a narrow perspective in order to stir up controversy in an effort to get you to buy their hyped up fat loss program. It's time to cut through the chase and set the record straight.

Myth #1: Abs Are Made In The Kitchen

It's important to watch what you eat and how much you eat in the kitchen. You simply can't out-train a lousy diet to build muscles, lose fat and sculpt 6 pack abs.

However, I have been many scrawny men or skinny women dieting down to low percent of body fat and still don't have abs that pop out.

So if you want to develop eye catching abs that really stand out, you still need to train your abs and work them hard in addition to following an effective diet.

Myth #2: Crunches Are Bad For Your Back

Unfortunately most people do the crunches wrong and strain their necks and back. They conclude that crunches are useless and bad for their back.

Performed properly, crunches or curl-ups are effective exercise to directly work on your abdominal muscles. Abs - short for "rectus abdominis" - is designed to flex for spinal flexion movement.

Performing crunching movements with proper form is the best way to fully develop them. Floor crunches, stability ball crunches, cable crunches, and double crunch are all great exercises for developing your abs.

Myth #3: You Can't Train Your Lower Abs

Some fitness trainers argue that you can't work your lower abs, because the Rectus Abdominis is one long muscle.  It's only partially true. Just like any muscle-building exercise, you can put more emphasis on certain part of the muscle by performing the exercise in different angle and range of motion.

The key here is "emphasis" not to complete isolate lower abs. Hanging Knee Raises, Reverse Crunches, and the Jackknife among several other exercises place extra emphasis on the lower abdominal muscles. Basically any exercise where the movement involves tilting your pelvis up toward your chest, will place extra emphasis on the lower section of your abs.

The word "emphasis" is the key here. With each of the above abs exercises your entire Rectus Abdominis muscle will be working, but you should "feel" more tension and contraction in the lower abs compared to how they "feel" when you are performing other crunching movements.

If you want to sculpt a sexy set of six pack abs while developing a strong core  and look your best, you must follow a strategically designed workout program that includes functional exercises, crunching movements that emphasize the upper and mid section of the Rectus Abdominis, crunching movements that emphasize the lower section of the Rectus Abdominins, and exercises that work the Transverse Abdominals and Obliques.

In a final word, remember, your diet is equally important as your abs training routine. Check out Metabolic Masterpiece for Fat Loss Quckie.

War Against Epidemic Obesity is a National Issue and Personal Responsibility

Fighting against rising epidemic obesity is a national warfare declared by Morris County NJ personal trainer, fitness expert and diet coach Care Yang.

Obese Pot Belly

National obesity rate keeps rising with no stop in sight. According to new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 32 million more Americans will become obese by 2030, upping obesity rates to 42 percent of the U.S. population

The report also predicts that the proportion of Americans who are severely obese, meaning more than 100 pounds overweight, will reach 11 percent, about double the current rate. The damage is $550 billion of obesity-related health care costs that can be used to build national infrastructure, improve education, enhance job skills training, reduce unemployment rate, and stimulate economy.

"This is a sad story to read," says Carey Yang,  a certified personal trainer and fitness expert in New Jersey.

Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.

About 34 percent of adults are currently obese, creating a whole host of expensive, chronic health problems, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

"This is a war and we have to fight together as a nation," Yang says. "It has to start with youth. We know that about 50 percent of severe obesity in adults is consequence of obesity in childhood. Currently about 17 percent of children and adolescents are obese."

Yang says, we have so many government agencies, non-profit organizations, communities and schools involved to fight both adult and childhood obesity with a variety of programs. Even the First Lady Michelle Obama early this year launched a campaign to fight childhood obesity by improving childhood nutrition and physical activity.

“Nutrition and exercise start from home. Parents hold the key to educating their children,” Yang says. “Parents should be good role models for their children. If your children see you slouch in front of the tube and dig into a bag of chips along with a bottle of beer, it’s hard to resist the same lifestyle. Chunky Mom, plus chunky Dad, often equals chunky kids and pets.”

Yang advocates parents and family involvements in fighting against obesity. Health and fitness is truly a family matter. He offers a few solutions to promoting active lifestyle and making healthy choices.

1. Be a positive role model. Parents have to set a good example for themselves and for their children such as regular exercise, being active and eating a healthy balanced die.

2. Set family time to prepare meals and exercise together. Research shows that families eating and exercising together also stay closer.

3. Assign household chores. Children can learn the value of responsibility by sharing active household chores while increasing physical activity.

4. Limit sedentary activities. Watching TV and playing electronic games have taken so much time and opportunity out of moving around and exercising. Studies have shown that reducing TV time is associated with reductions in body weight and body fat.

It’s a day-to-day process and a series of repeated small steps that add up to awesome health habits. “Every time you choose the vegetables over the chips, a walk over a drive, and an active game over T.V., you’ve just made another donation to yourself and to your families lifetime health and fitness fund,” Yang says.

Top NJ Personal Trainer Says The K-E Diet is Medicine, Practice, Ethics and Greed at the Crossroads

New Jersey celebrity personal trainer, fitness expert and diet coach Carey Yang scoffs at the recent K-E Diet craze for extreme weight loss as a threat to public health leaving medicine, practice, ethics and greed at the cross roads.

Extreme Weight Loss for Wedding

"Lose 20 pounds in 10 days" is the big promise made by the most recent fad diet called "K-E Diet" or the "feeding-tube diet." The K-E Diet was featured in a New York Times article involving a nasogastric tube inserted through the nose and down into the esophagus for up to 10 days. The diet consists of a slow drip of protein and fat mixed with water, totaling 800 calories per day with no carbohydrates. The 10-day weight loss treatment costs $1500 and can result in the shedding of up to 20 pounds through ketosis, where the body burns fat instead of sugar.

K-E Diet Bridal Feeding Tube

The K-E Diet went viral in the news, TV and social media, particularly in the wedding weight loss industry. "I have many clients and friends asking me about the K-E Diet or extreme wedding weight loss diet," says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness expert in New Jersey.

Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.

"Allow me to set the record straight, anyone or anything that promises you to lose 20 pounds in 10 days should raise the big red-flag warning. You should check the FTC rules for claim violations."

Yang says. "After reading the NY Times article, watching TV news coverage, and watching their YouTube video, all I can say is that the doctor and the K-E Diet put the patient's health in danger, dispense distorted health information, misuse nutritional guidance, exploit the brides-to-be's desperate vulnerability for quick weight loss before wedding, and watch their profit before the patient's pocket," Yang says. "This truly put nutrition science, medical practice, ethics and greed at the crossroads."

Some of known and cited side effects of the K-E Diet are constipation, bad breath, dizziness, kidney stones, dehydration, and headaches. “It’s like the Atkins diet on a feeding tube, ” Yang says. "This type of weight loss lunacy gotta stop!" Yang comments.

New Jersey Fitness Expert Denounces Extreme Weight Loss K-E Diet as a Loser's Hunger Game

Extreme Weight Loss Diet to Fit Skinny Jeans

Medicine, ethics, and greed at the cross roads?

A new extreme weight loss diet , The K-E Diet,  featured in a recent New York Times article, involves having a nasogastric tube inserted through the nose and down into the esophagus for up to 10 days. The diet consists of a slow drip of protein and fat mixed with water, totaling 800 calories per day with no carbohydrates. Does it sound similar? It's like the Atkins Diet in a feeding tube.

The 10-day weight loss treatment costs $1500 and can result in the shedding of up to 20 pounds through ketosis, where the body burns fat instead of sugar. In order to fit their fabulous wedding gowns and look their best on wedding days, many brides-to-be go on all kinds of crash diets to lose 10 to 20 pounds quickly without realizing the side effects and the long-term impact on their health.

"For crying out loud, this is a biggest loser's hunger game," says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness expert in New Jersey.

Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC -- a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.

The K-E Diet involves no hospitalization or doctor supervision - simply a bag filled with the food solution and a tube inserted into the nose. "I smell the conflict of interest in medicine, medical practice, ethics, and greed." Yang says.  "It's a rip-off!"

"You can lose weight on 800-calorie-a-day diet by yourself although it's below the safe daily calorie intake recommended by FDA and dietitians," Yang says. "And you'll be likely to lose muscle and water. When you resume your regular diet and calorie intake, you will gain all the weight back plus some."

Some of known and cited side effects are constipation, bad breath, dizziness, kidney stones, dehydration, and headaches. "It's like the Atkins diet on a feeding tube," Yang says.

"How can a normal, well person allow the doctor to stick a feed tube in their nose?" Yang questions.

Naso-gastric tubes are only used for patients who are unable to eat enough such as people who are in a coma, have had a stroke, or have a serious illness that keeps them from being able to get enough nutrition by chewing and swallowing their food. There can be issues from tube irritation in the esophagus, and in some cases the tube can be accidentally placed (or accidentally moved after being placed properly) and end up in the lung. When the feeding formula goes into the lung it usually results in pneumonia.

Yang says, "if you can't lose weight by eating right, exercising regularly and taking on a healthy lifestyle, no fad diet can help you in the long term."

"I have trained and coached brides-to-be before. If you want to look your best on your wedding day, start early. Use this opportunity to learn how to eat a healthy diet, learn about your relationship with food, learn how to work out and strengthen your body the right way ." Yang says.

"The choice is yours. All I can say is that K-E Diet is a biggest loser's hunger game," Yang adds.
